The set of EastEnders is going to look more like Shoreditch

The set of EastEnders is going to look more like Shoreditch, its executive producer has revealed.

The soap opera is set in the fictional Albert Square, originally modelled on Fassett Square in Hackney. But Dominic Treadwell-Collins said “it’s been frozen in aspic for too long” and did not reflect modern east London. He told the Radio Times that Sharon, played by Letitia Dean, was going to buy a bar, so “as a result you’ll see the edges of Shoreditch creeping into EastEnders. It’s got to reflect the modern world.”

The upgraded set will be on screens from 2018.
